Fun on the pier at Herne Bay

M and l planned a little jaunt along the coast to Herne Bay yesterday. A mainly Victorian town, in its heydey it had the second longest pier in the UK at 1,097 metres and a 'sailing car' would take people from one end of the pier to the other, if there was no wind to fill the sails pier employees would have to pull the car with the passengers in it along the wharf!

The pier is now in two sections - one bit not used sitting in splendid isolation further out to sea - see extra.
