Late yet again.

Hippeastrum is a genus of South American bulbs whose cultivars are commonly sold by florists and garden centres as Amaryllis. ProperAmaryllis are also bulbous flowers,  but they come from the other side of the Atlantic, from South Africa.
This bulb is now in its 8th year. I always  try to get get it to flower in time for Christmas but routinely it waits until the Summer!
