Floors Castle Walled Garden

Floors Castle in Kelso has its 300th birthday this year and today I had one too.  The house, a William Adam design, was built between 1721 and 1726 for the 1st Duke of Roxburghe.  In 1836, the 6th Duke engaged the architect William Playfair to extend and remodel the house to that which we see today.  But for me despite the grandeur of the house the highlight of the day was the four acre walled garden.  The hot border looked wonderful.

Mister F managed to get me back to Edinburgh in time to play bowls.  We were almost rained off when 10 minutes of torrential rain turned the rink into a swimming pool.   The start was delayed for 45 minutes whilst the rain was brushed off the rink.  This was not an auspicious start as we went on to take a hammering!  Did no one tell them it was my birthday!
