Water Organ

We went up to Logie Steading today to see the Water Organ which was created by Mark Zygadlo as part of the Findhorn Bay Arts programme called Source to Sea. It is a pipe organ that is powered by paddles which are turned by the river. There are sensors which gather data from the river and process it into sound sequences that are played in real time by the organ. There are different sounds produced depending on the location the organ is in the river and the rate of the river's flow. We had lunch afterwards at the cafe at Logie Steading which was nice. In the evening I picked the last of the blackcurrants just before the heavens opened and the thunderstorms that were promised finally arrived.
