Over the sea to Skye...

Today’s rain and very low cloud, made it difficult to record our journey but we’ve covered over 240 miles by rail and road.

The 80 mile journey took us west from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh where we looked across to the Isle of Skye. “The line travelled along the south side of Beauly Firth with views back across to the “Black Isle” before turning north to the market town of Dingwall. There it heads west again climbing slowly through the remote northern Highlands.”

We drove home alongside Loch Ness and our guide shared great stories of Kelpies, monsters and mountain myths. Also lots of fascinating facts too as to why the loch ripples, movement of the tectonic plates at the bottom of the loch.

The Victorian Market Hall in Inverness was great! Could have spent more time there!
