Hot at Home

An at home day in 40ºC, at one point, Graham's car apparently registered 42ºC when he was out - and still mid 30s this evening when we had a power cut. I am wondering if the power cut was related to the infamous fires in Turkey as the nearest one is in Didim, my local town, about 10km (we are not in any danger here) and the whole district was without power. The wind was tremendous - hot and dry, no wonder the fires are out of control. Awful.

Today's pic is our communal 'garden'. By the time summer arrives, all ground cover is long dead from lack of topsoil and excess of heat and sun. Short of irrigating the whole garden which would be too expensive to keep watered, we don't know what to do with the space. Suggestions ?  I bought the picnic table for everyone to use, but most of the time it's just too hot with no shade, and it's frequently too windy to put up any kind of umbrella/fabric tent.

Today would have been Dad's 92nd birthday. Bro and I always raise a glass across the waves at 9pm UK time on this and other significant anniversaries.
