Now, as I see it......

The train now standing at Platform 2……

It’s a long time since any trains stopped here, at least, on that platform.  The other platform is still in use for regular trains between Sheringham and Norwich and when we passed through there a few weeks ago on a train I noticed the old buildings on the other platform, which now form a private house.  The owner has kept all the station buildings intact and has put old advertising signs and porters trucks with suitcases along the platform, making it look like it was still back in the 1950s.  The cream building looks a bit like a signal box but I doubt is original, and that little goods train at the end of the platform?  Three sheds, one of which is carefully crafted to look like a locomotive!

I spoke to a man there who said he worked for the owner who had been restoring the property for about twenty years and keeps threatening to sell it, especially when he gets the latest bill for the renovations.  Fancy living in a station, anyone (and there’s a very good looking pub just over the road)?
