Rainster Rocks

We took the opportunity to enjoy the good weather and did a walk near Carsington Water reservoir. The walk started at the Sheepwash car park and took us on a 7 mile loop north of the reservoir.

We visited the villages of Carsington  and Brassington enroute. This is a view of Rainster Rocks not far out of Brassington. The extra was taken just above the village of Carsington looking back towards the reservoir.

There was plenty of insect life including a flurry of butterflies on a lane where some wild marjoram was growing. Butterfly species included smallcoppers, gatekeeper and meadow brown.

It was quite a warm day, and as we got back to the car, we treated ourselves to an ice cream. Well, the ice cream van was parked right next to or car. It was rather hard to resist.......
