Roadtrip day 4

Still really windy this morning. We were up in good time for some breakfast with the sheep. We left the van on the site and walked down to Broad Haven again for a morning swim. It was really choppy and quite cold, but it was our last chance for a swim so we thought we should make the most of it. It was really fun, the waves were just big enough to comically smack us in the face but not big enough to be too scary.

We had a booking for lunch so we headed there afterwards. Pose had a burger and I had a ginormous plate of nachos (the homemade salsa was delish) - the walk back up the hill was a bit of a struggle after all the food.

Our campsite had a little farm shop so we bought some veg for dinner (and I got some eggs to take home for Matt as an actually useful souvenir) then headed off. We headed back west so we wouldn’t have quite so far to drive on Friday - and looked up somewhere to have a decent ice cream on the way.

We ended up in Narberth thanks to an award-winning gelato shop, but we weren’t expecting such an amazing little town! There was a second Jago (a really cool shop in Tenby), really cool coffee places, lovely independent shops, and about 5 amazing antique places. One in particular - The Malthouse - was absolutely huge, and had a separate garden section with a walled garden and cafe at the back. We both showed extreme restraint and managed to not buy anything. I did however find a perfect mirror for Ma’s house in the charity shop opposite. We also tried some local gins and various other drinks in a little shop, and both ended up buying bottles - it was so delicious. Finished our trip with the gelato we’d actually gone there for, and we weren’t disappointed!

Our spot for the night was in Burry Port, in a car park in amongst the dunes. We parked up then had a good walk along the beach and the harbour. It was drizzly and windy but we were determined to make the most of our last evening so we made baguettes and ate them on a dune in our waterproofs. By the evening it was raining torrentially and the wind was strong enough to rock the van, so we played lots of games and did some drawing to pass the time.
