Reaching for the sky

Agaves are famed for only flowering once and then dying, but they make it worth their while. Although they can take between 8-30 years to reach this point, somehow they all seem to be in sync -- there are loads flowering this year. These are about five metres tall.

I was invited out this evening and asked to bring a pudding. I couldn't decide what to make, so I made a tarte au citron and an upside-down pear cake. It was supposed to be a barbecue, but it rained and blew a gale from 5 pm onwards; luckily H and K have a very large living room, given that there were about 20 of us. Lots of chat, and it went on till late ... I tottered home after 1 a.m. and had a long lie-in, hence the backblip.
