Uncle Jeremy gates

Why we call them that is lost in the mists of time, but had something to do with a money-making scheme in the Lake District. Anyway, there are several gates up on Harting Down that stand in splendid and random isolation. Occasionally when the livestock is moved they will find themselves attached to an electric fence, but meanwhile they just bide their time.

Extra: the view from the top of South Harting village.
