YAFFLE

Such a treat today. I took a walk across Farnham Park and came across a family of Jays, and among them was this juvenile Green Woodpecker, also known colloquially as a Yaffle (Picus viridis). One of the Jays, and a photo of the Green Woodpecker and a Jay together are in extras. I was so excited I almost forgot to carry on into town and get my shopping.
