Howay Man

Seen on a hoarding at my local shopping centre today.  'Howay Man' is a good old Geordie phrase.  Geordies are people who live in the Newcastle and it's surrounding areas.

'Howay Man' generally means 'Come On' or 'Hurry Up.'   An example of how it could be used is '"Howay Man!  Are we gannin doon the toon" which means "Come On.  Are we going into the city centre"

There was something in the news recently about regional accents dying out.  I really hope they don't.
