Cape Wrath

Another place we've never been able to visit due to the time of year we've been going and the fact the ferry isn't open then.

It's quite the trek. But then I guess a trip to one of the most remote places in the UK across a military firing range is going to be. A ferry across the Kyle of Durness where you wait for a minibus that bumps you for an hour along the 12 miles or so to the lighthouse on a pothole laden track. Andy the driver provided commentary all the way there plus played his bugle at any opportunity. Once there you get an hour to explore. What surprised me on this beautiful headland with lots to see is the fact that almost everyone piled out of the minibus and straight into the cafe. We only just managed to see all we wanted to in the hour we had without needing to obtain refreshments.

Anyway this is another Highland lighthouse ticked off. I think there is only 1 mainland "proper" Stephenson or the like to go and that's near Wick.
