Windmill 'De Hoop', Dalem

Yup, yet another 'Hope'!  It won't be the last one, not yet.
Dalem used to be a village just outside Gorinchem ('Gorkum').  It's now part of the much larger municipality.  Gorinchem used to be a fort, so one can imagine how Dalem was where the ordinary people lived, while the larger town functioned as a garrison.  The huge industrial area on the outskirts and next to the Merwede river made the whole area even larger.

Not too much sun when I got there, and the clouds arranged so neatly that shooting this was a joy.  Sometimes I did have to wait for a cloud to float away from the sun or into position, but that was no problem at all.

There's an extra.  What my previous camera could not do well, this new one is doing really, really well -- precise long-distance focusing.  I do need to practice more with macro shots, though.  Another extra -- a close-up.  It was possible to enter the windmill, climb up, and shoot a view of the surrounding wetlands, but I will do that another time, when I visit Gorinchem again.

Fab day with one gold for the women's keirin (indoor cycling), plus a silver and a bronze for the heptathlon (women's athletics).  For me, the best part was being able to read a lot before finally enjoying a really good night's sleep.

Thank you for all the stars for Rockanje's windmill!  Your dropping by is much, much appreciated.
