The dropped stitch

By Bodkin

so many

So many hay bales in so many fields across Orkney at the moment.
This photo taken in Tankerness.

I was working all afternoon.
Mince pie, carrots and chard for tea.
The chard is doing well in the garden. It's a mystery to me why the visiting rabbits haven't eaten it. They obviously prefer the stems of tender annuals.

The novelty of having the sheep in the field next door has quickly worn off because they keep escaping. No longer sweet nuzzling noses waiting at the gate to greet passers by. Now I see them as tramplers of flower beds with hungry mouths eager to sample any and every plant they come across.
Emergency improvements to the garden gates are underway to keep them out.
