Smartly done

And, at 11.05 that was the end of the day we were expecting. Martin was with me learning Wittersham Road box. He’s already qualified at Rolvenden and Northiam and is now learning Witt Road.

Shortly after this train arrived at Northiam we had a message to say the water tank there was faulty and the engine could not take water.

Much discussion ensued leading to Martin having to go to Northiam and open the signal box to allow a rescue diesel to haul the train back to Rolvenden for a long long drink. Martin had to be collected from Witt Road as we’d arrived in my car!

The delay meant a complete reworking of the timetable with all crossing moves at Wittersham and in the opposite order to normal.

It all worked well in the end, we caught up much of the time finishing only 15 minutes down on the day.

Yesterday’s blip is of the hydraulics of a mini excavator. Looks rather complicated doesn’t it.
