Sorting

Quiet solitary day yet managed to get a lot done, albeit fairly slowly. Started with laundry and emptying the car…my goodness that took a long time as I had the new 18 drawer chest to carry up and that meant carrying all the drawers up in sets of 3 before then dragging up the metal frame, phew! Washed them all and set it up in the hall, then brought up all the luggage and salvaged stuff from P’s house and sorted through it, washed it all and started to work out where it should go. It’s looking so messy around the house though and will get worse before it gets better. Need to decide what goes in all the new drawers and how to make space for the new kitchen stuff.
Headed out for a walk and to see what the city looked like now the festivals have started. Weird….still very quiet with hardly any people in George or Bristo Squares or on most roads, but the Royal Mile was busy, just not as busy as it used to be. There was still a good crowd for the usual street performers ….
Had Bratwurst as I walked (conversation about them the other day meant I couldn’t resist when I saw the stall!) and then home for a cup of tea and nice chat to R. Opposite problem to me….sitting in a house that had been almost completely emptied, finally after the long two year pandemic imposed pause on their break up. We had a good chat and planned a proper catch up soon, then I headed off to Fort Kinnaird to get a few bits and pieces including some new houseplants.
Stopped at supermarket to get stocked up. Need to start thinking about Mt&H and the kids arriving next Thursday and what to do with them…weather looks very mixed.
More tidying up, but didn’t have the energy/oomph to do a lot and ended up falling asleep on the sofa at 8.30!
