Catherine Wheel Alley

I'm back in Spitalfields. I'm fond of the Victorian-era buildings, and what I assume is a much much older street-plan. Many of the streets here are barely wide enough for a single modern car, and they meet at strange angles; there are alleys and lanes running through the area too, some taking dog-leg paths cutting through the city blocks and running along the backs of buildings.

Some of the names of these streets and lanes and alleys are curiously quaint, sounding like J K Rowling dreamed them up (Frying Pan Alley is a personal fave -- must blip that one soon too).

Despite the picturesque names, the views are not always as inviting as you might at first imagine. Here, for your visual delight, is Catherine Wheel Alley.
