The Distant Southerly…..

We are having some very wintery weather. Snow has enveloped vast areas of the South Island over the weekend and today impacting the roading network and mountain passes, causing power cuts and chilling vulnerable stock. Here in this part of Marlborough we often miss out on the worst southerly storms. An ominous cloud bank will scud up the eastern side of the South Island and as it reaches Cape Campbell it bypasses Blenheim and zooms across Cook Strait to savagely dump rain, gales and hail on Wellington.
