A splash of paint

Our visitor was heading back to Edinburgh today. This took us to Stonehaven station. The first time I have been in the station (not on a train) for many a long year. The last time was on Grand National day many years ago. It was pouring with rain and it was a long walk to the harbour where we were having dinner that evening.

Today instead the sun was shining and it was warm at the beach (extra). Pleasant to enjoy watching the activity at the  harbour for a few minutes. Stonehaven was quite busy, especially at the beach and around the harbour area. Both harbour pubs seem to be doing a good trade.

The main picture shows the signal box at Stonehaven station. It could do with being repainted. Several tubs of flowers give a summery look to the platforms. I am always surprised to see semaphore style railway signals. I suppose there must still be quite a lot scattered around the country.
