Rosa 'Compassion'

Today we woke to yet more rain and the day was a series of downpours interspersed with almost clear skies.  The news is full of warnings that due to climate change, this may be our weather pattern of the future.
During one of the dry spells I popped out and photographed this pretty climbing rose that we bought last week.  Eventually it will be planted to climb up one of the two arches that we recently had replaced.
This afternoon we watched the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics.  There can't be anybody who doesn't know that they were postponed last year and that opinion was generally against them taking place even this year.  We were rather sceptical in this house but now we feel that they were extremely successful, even without spectators and hearing the training, or rather not being able to train, stories of the competitors interesting and moving.  Team GB had a very decent medal haul and we look forward to seeing what they can do in Paris in just three years time.
