Snowprints

The snow is melting quickly this afternoon but I managed to capture evidence of some of the birds that had been visiting the bird table and feeders over the last day before their tracks completely vanished. My attempts to take a picture of a wagtail were unsuccessful as it disappeared beneath the shrubs every time, and although it's there it can't be seen in the photo. The large footprints are those of a pigeon which feasts off the seeds dropped by the smaller birds. As I write I can see and hear a pheasant strutting by, glad that it can now find food again, but it has never visited us.
