Southern Hawker Dragonfly

We took a drive out this afternoon to Parcevall Hall Gardens. Managed by the Diocese of Leeds and offering workshops and retreats, the gardens, open to the public offer beautiful plantings, woodland walks, and small ornate ponds and a woodland lake, in the peaceful atmosphere of the Dales. I loved the variety of buddleias and butterflies, - and the dragonflies! It was a beautiful summers afternoon. I have chosen this picture because to me it has an almost magical fairy like quality which expresses the natural beauty I felt immersed in - and so green!
I’ve identified this dragonfly as a Southern Hawker, but I’m happy to be corrected
I’ve add a collage in extras. The dragonfly on the top right is hanging over the foot on the right of the statue bottom left.
We took a walk along the river at Appletreewick (wonderful name) after, it’s an old favourite with some happy canoeing memories- lovely to see the people enjoying the water
I have watched Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland tonight- I’ve seen it before but it really spoke to me tonight
