Diary of an Edinburgher

London Day Four

Today we met up with LadyG in Soho. Easy - the Number 19 bus again. We met at Bill’s, which is a rather groovy chain of restaurants with a nice ambience.

The dessert was a rather spectacular flower pot, with soil and filled with cheescake - all edible. Inspirational!

The only problem with buses in central London is that there are so many one way streets, so the way you came and carefully noted, is not necessarily the same way you go back. We walked miles yesterday, and the same again today, trying to find the right street and the right bus stop. And then it’s not exactly clear if that’s the correct direction. But we lucked out and recognised a different bus, the 38, which went our way, and leapt on it, then panicked as the destination on the front was unknown to us. I asked the driver, and he said yes, he was going north, and several passengers assured us we were on the right bus for the Angel. Phew!

I had a rest at the hotel while JR went off for a recce of the neighbourhood, in case she’d missed any shops. But also for a suitable venue for supper. And she found a whole street of cafes. We chose a good one - tapas.

I didn’t take many photos today, so I’ve included a couple from yesterday. JR at (the front door of…) the Ritz, and on the special birthday seat at the Angel shopping centre.
