Light Up the North #1

Buchanness Lighthouse at Boddam is considered by many civil engineers to be one the best of the many lighthouses built by the renowned designer Robert Stevenson.  It was completed in 1827.  Nowadays it is controlled remotely from the lighthouse headquarters in Edinburgh.

The keepers’ cottages which surround the lighthouse have been converted for self-catering and are popular with visitors to the area.
