What struck my fancy

St Nicholas' Church

Is a redundant Anglican church dating from around 1290 according to the list of Rectors, in the mid-Norfolk village of Feltwell (UK). It seemed to be an afternoon to play with words. Firstly one of our local hospital wards is called Feltwell, second, whilst visiting the church a gentleman turned up with a large key to close up but not before we got talking. He acts as a custodian but during his working life was sexton (gravedigger) here and he had to tell me that his surname  . . .  is Stiff.

The extra shows an oil lamp, one of several, hanging from the vault of the church.
