Hibiscus Syriacus,

We had been out all afternoon with my son and his partner who took us for a lovely lunch to celebrate my birthday and our 41st wedding anniversary both of which are on Monday. When we got home we had a stroll around the garden in the evening light. 
This very large shrub/tree is one of the last things to flower in our garden and every year gives us a magnificent display of intense purple flowers
