Lathyrus Odoratus

The master of disguise

This morning I made my annual trip to Deep Dene, high up on the Sussex Downs, in search of the Grayling in its last refuge in the south-east of England. Its incredible camouflage make it notoriously difficult to spot and in windy overcast conditions there weren't many to be seen. My 46th, and probably final, butterfly species of the year although Clouded Yellow, Brown Hairstreak and Long-tailed Blue are still possible.
