Bolton Abbey

Fab day visiting Bolton Abbey.
I wrongly thought it was a walk round a ruined abbey then we’d find something else to do.

It’s part of the Duke of Devonshire’s property (his other house being Chatsworth, Derbyshire).

Set in a huge rural estate, there are lovely walks along the riverside and through woodlands too. Very family and dog friendly and plenty of eateries along the way. We would have taken a packed lunch if we’d realised we’d be there all day.

Highly recommend this as a day out for anyone. Some of it is pram and wheelchair suitable too.
Obvs not on these stepping stones though.
A little boy at the front of this line clearly wasn’t happy. It was a slow crossing for everyone behind!
It probably happens several times a day and I’m sure it’s not just small children who struggle.

Finished the afternoon in a pub playing scrabble and eating dinner.
One game each.
