Ghost Tree

There is an old rowan on the grass between the stream and the pond.  It was surrounded by gorse where we first came here but we cleared It all out and it became an established feature , very visible from the study.

However over time it has become heavy with lichen  whilst producing fewer and fewer berries each year.  Now there are hardly any  and the wood is greying with age.

Not quite yet a ghost of a tree but going that way.     Fortunately there are others in better health all around, and my extra photo shows one of them on the hillside above the house.
