horns of wilmington's cow

That wasn't the plan

Running true to the general proposition that we can never have something go 100% well, and that every silver lining will include a cloud... We got a fantastic offer on the house today at its closing, and didn't need much deliberating before getting back to the agent to accept in favour of the TWENTY-SEVEN others.

And so to the evening. A 6pm viewing of our own of a place in East Lothian, which would be followed by some fish and chips and fizz. The car had other ideas. Seems the alternator is playing up, which meant a loss of all of the electrics while on the A1. Quite the moment wondering if you've got enough momentum to coast to the emergency layby ahead.

Thanks to the AA (quite a long wait, but the chap was really decent) the tow home was completed in enough time to still get the fish and chips and fizz in. A wee bit later than planned, but toasting the good fortune of the day. Two days wait now to see what my father-in-law's place goes for, and we then know exactly what we have to play with in total.
