Early apples

Fetched vegetables and fruit in the morning - bought Gravensteins. First local apples - they have a welcome sharp flavor, which I prefer to the stored or imported Pink Ladies.  

A smoky orange light for most of the day.  Air smelled of smoke in the afternoon, cleared up in the evening. This is from distant fires ( CalFire incidents map ). It's not nearly so hot as this time last year.
