Garden visitor

Amongst other things today, I’ve been tidying the garden, I was just about to pull up a weed, when I spotted this chap. I think it’s an Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar. Now he isn’t the most handsome caterpillar but his markings are very clever and are thought to make the caterpillar look snake like and unappetising to predators. Rather surprisingly when I was in the front garden I saw a smaller one. I suspect it might say something about the weeds in my garden
