The Final Leg

Given the challenges we faced on our past couple of flights, it is no surprise that our final leg was a bit of a struggle as well. It all started off well enough with our shuttle van showed up at our hotel ten minutes early. After we picked up another passenger who was ready to go, we headed to the final rendezvous. We received word the final four passengers were running fifteen minutes late. Almost forty minutes passed before they finally arrived, but we were on the road at last. Except one of the college-aged kids had left his cell phone in the car that brought them. That resulted in a ten minute wait at the side of the road for the errant cell phone to arrive. An hour and a half later the short rest stop turned into something much longer as the "kids" took their time snack shopping.
The final delay was at the border (shown here). They somehow forgot that they had a small amount of marijuana in their luggage, which of course the Mexican authorities discovered during their routine search. Not certain how they managed it, but they got through with some kind of fine and a flag on their passport. All in all, a trip that should have taken at most four hours took more than five and a half because of these self-absorbed, inconsiderate youngsters.
