A concrete love affair

Little Harbingers

Another ride today took me further out of the city on the former Great Central Railway Line. I discovered some truly wonderful bridge infrastructure which still supports the remnants of this former mainline. These structures represent the pinnacle of Victorian railway engineering, being largely opened in 1902 and closed as part of the Beeching program in 1967. They live on as monuments to the steam age and, for me, little harbingers of the potential of key transport infrastructure to be reinvented after its primary use falls.
