Light the North #4

A day which began with a constant drizzle of rain eventually gave way to brighter skies.

I have driven past this lighthouse several times on my way to my daughter’s house since the lighthouses were out on public display and was keen to add it to my ‘Light the North’ collection.

After Mrs CBL and I had completed the chores we were doing for our daughter and son-in-law, we parked the car at Duthie Park and walked along the riverside to Wellington Suspension Bridge.  This pedestrian only bridge spans the River Dee not far from Aberdeen Harbour.

‘Ahoy There!’ is a rather attractive sculpture by west coast artist Calene Scott-White and is covered with flags from the International Code of Signals (ICS).  They are a simple but very effective way of communicating to vessels on the high seas.  The flags round the base of the sculpture spell out ‘Light the North’, although Calene has used some artistic licence with some of the colours.

Whatever the weather enjoy your weekend lots!
