Dartmoor view

We were out today with friends for a walk on Dartmoor.  The weather forecast wasn't too bad only a low chance of rain but was pretty inaccurate as we encountered some fairly consistent rain in the morning.

We started by climbing up a small lane where we startled two Roe deer who quickly scuttled away into the woods and headed up onto  Dartmoor.  This view was taken just before the rain started, you can just make out Venford Reservoir in the distance.  It may be Aish Tor in the distance but I am not sure now.  Anyway we had a good ramble on the moor meeting a few horse riders and a couple of walkers.  Lunch was had in the porch of the church at Leusdon watching the swallows feeding their chicks in the nests in the roof.  We then made our way back down passing by a small sunken cottage,  to the river Dart, see extras.  The weather by now had brightened up and we passed many groups of families and children out enjoying themselves by and in the water.  Tea in Ashburton ended the day before we headed back home.  Good to be out walking on Dartmoor again.
