Hartington Dales

We covered just under 11 miles today in perfect walking conditions - not too warm with a gentle breeze and no rain!

We started in the village of Hartington, famed for it's cheese shop. Biggin Dale was the first of four, which meets Mill Dale. We had a short coffee break in the village of Mill Dale before heading steeply up and out of this dale to the village of Alstonfield. It's a figure of eight walk so we ended up back at the junction with Mill Dale and Biggin Dale. But from there we walked north through Wolfscote Dale which neatly goes into Beresford Dale back to Hartington.

It's not one to do when it's rained heavily as around the junction of dales at the end of Biggin Dale usually floods! But we did manage to keep away from the busier parts and get out on the tops for some great views.

We saw this amazing tree growing out of the rock along he way too.
