Been having bother with this SD card. The slider for the write-protect kept moving too readily, so it has been "sorted" with some glue. Unfortunately, prior to fixing that, whilst setting up a camera's firmware and some testing, I mixed it up with another card, and formatted the wrong one... this one. Monday to Wednesday's photos were stored on it, and hadn't been downloaded.

Yesterday I went looking for the files, but couldn't find them. Was thinking there was going to be a three day gap in the journal. It took a while for it to dawn what I'd done.

Sandisk's software, Rescue Pro Deluxe, did come to the rescue, not for the first time, but there was a morning of steps to get it to do so. Was confused by hundreds of photos salvaged that weren't taken by me, and were of unknown people and places. Realised a while later that this was a card that had originally come to me via a secondhand camera it had been left in. The sought files were recovered amongst over 1,700 others, and some other steps were still required before being able to finally edit them.

Be wary of giving away old memory cards, as formatting them only deletes the directory of what was on the card, the data is still there until it's totally overwritten, and it can be recovered. That same software can be used to properly erase the contents, but it will take a while. After salvaging (and backing-up) those few files, I did a full erase on the card. Think it took about an hour and a half.
