American Groundnut

Apios americana

Also called the potato bean, hopniss, Indian potato, hodoimo, America-hodoimo.  Not to be confused with other plants called groundnut.  It's a perennial vine that bears edible beans and large edible tubers.  Both are staple foods for most American indigenous people.  Information paraphrased from Seek and Wikipedia.

We had an enjoyable walk at North Chagrin Reservation, on NC1 bridle trail and then along the Strawberry Lane pond/lake.  It was still hot and humid, but always enjoyable to be there.

At home, in the extra, Chester is planning his move.  He loves to jump as high as he can on this particular door frame.  He is an oddball, but we love him.

Thanks to Miranda for hosting the wildflower challenge.
