Emma D's diary

At Hereford: Heading home....

The children's ward is an interesting place to for an overnight sleep. Its a hive of activity and teamwork. Shifts of doctors and nursing staff, tiptoeing and whispering around. Your curtain pulled round like a hibernation cubicle. Everyone with a job to do, machines a beeping. Children's nursing is a special vocation, I can see that. Creative, soft but firm approach....and I think mostly with the parents!.

Beau came off the ward with his certificate of 'being a star patient'. He's chuffed about that. Part off being a 'star' is a guess being around 'fellow stars' that help when things get just a little too tough. The children's nurses are most defiantly that....Beau here, having difficultly with having his electrode stickers removed.... a simple explanation from the nurse that his monkey needed them was enough distraction to stop the tears.

Creative, caring hands.... x
