Chickpea thrash

After drying for days in the sun I finally separated the chickpea pods from the plants. The pods have a spiked end. No wonder they invented machine threshing.

Here is a video from the comrades at the ‘resistenza contadina’ - the peasant resistance as they wait for the thresher to do their beans. It’s a shame there aren’t subtitles. The best bit is when one of the guys sinks his hands into a basket of the threshed beans - il carne dei poveri (the meat of the poor) - and says words to the effect that’s it’s a wonderful thing to have your own beans. https://youtu.be/BZulAgHxCTA
