Earthquake House

Comrie is also known as “Shaky Toon” on the account of the fact it lies on the Highland Boundary Fault line and is prone to earthquakes.

In 1874 this building was erected housing a seismoscope (for recording earthquakes) probably the first ever purpose built earthquake observatory.
The building is still in use but houses more up to date equipment. An interesting place to visit.
