Red Bellied Woodpecker

The big brother of our Downy Woodpecker, this little friend likes one claw on the perch, the other on the castle wall. I was readying my new gear bag for my upcoming Caribbean cruise (Backpacking water purifier: Check!) when he bullied his way past the American Goldfinch and the Titmouse for his morning meal.

I'm learning lots of bird names this spring! Happy Second day of Spring! (Doesn't it look Spring-like outside my window??)
