An Unexpected Guest

A Hoverfly appears on the scene while I am photographing what we now know to be a Brown Argus (Aricia agestis) on some Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) towards the start of a very enjoyable (and nature-rich) four-hour stroll with Mrs Catspaw on the Sussex Wildlife Trust's Southerham Farm Nature Reserve and across the Lewes Downs (Mount Caburn) National Nature Reserve.

Today's 'Extra' shows a day-flying moth we have so far been unable to identify, which we spotted in the herb-rich grassland near the boundary of the two reserves.
