Yo, Ho, Ho!

Our grandaughters are at the age when they really enjoy complex board games. We play Monopoly and it gets very competitive and quite ruthless. And we like Cluedo. But then they keep finding old games that I had as a child and which have been stashed away for years.

Buccaneer was pulled out this weekend and this is very old. The date on it is 1958 and I would imagine that we got it as it came out, when I was very young.

It's a great game of sailing across a board, collecting treasure, taking it back to a harbour and maybe attacking other ships on the way. The problem is :

- none of us can remember exactly how to play it
- the instructions are very complicated
- we didn't want a game that went on for too long
- the treasure is a bit depleted as a few diamonds and rubies have been lost over the years

So, we made up a game as we were going along, rules suddenly appearing and disappearing. It made for an interesting game!!

This game now appears to be 'vintage'.
