Changing season

A late afternoon walk round Thorpe Wood, the last strains of summer heralded by the blooms of Nettle-leaved Bellflower and Enchanter's Nightshade, accompanied by the drooping panicles of Hairy-brome and Giant Fescue. 

But the prevalence of seedheads, together with the first bracket fungi and spiders sitting motionless in the middle of their webs, the strands of silk lit up in multiple hues by the low sun, all spoke of autumn.
