Parrot

Parrot pea is the common name for this plant, probably because its flowers are so brightly coloured. Botanically, I suspect it's Dilwynia floribunda but I can't be sure - there are one or two other Dilwynias that are very similar.  This grows in heathland on the outskirts of Lennox Head. It's a small bush to 1m high and is flowering profusely right now.

We walked into the heathland this morning and were enjoying the flowers and birds when a bushfire broke out nearby (see extra). We retreated. The fire died down and the rural fire service arrived soon afterwards.
