Field Cricket - Gryllus campestris

In the 1980s Field Crickets in the UK were depleted to a single population in West Sussex, from which six populations have been re-established.

We were lucky enough to stumble across a population in the nature reserve by Burton Mill pond, West Sussex, whilst they were chirping outside their burrows. We had no idea they were there before we heard them!
